In 1918 at the end of January was the Battle of Kruty, which took place 130km northeast of Kyiv. Young soldiers faught and died for Ukraine to resist Russian aggressors. This commemoration is done on an annual basis at the CYM/UAYA Oselia in Ellenville, NY. It’s a true example of patriotism, sacrifice and selfless love for Ukraine that CYM supports with all of it’s branches in the US.
The schedule of events is organized by the national board of CYM America. Families are invited from each branch (NJ/PA/NY/CT/etc). The program takes place on Saturday Feb 1 where kids will learn what happened in some mini lectures, there will be arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, and definitely plenty of time outdoors to go sledding on a pretty awesome hill, called The Mohyla.
NY CYM has rented a bus if you are planning to go for just one day. If you are planning to sleep over, you are welcome to do so but must take your car to and from Ellenville. Cost per room is 100$ which fits 4 people. The bus is 25$ per seat (adults and children). The bus leaves promptly at 7:30am by Baczynsky’s in the East Village (come earlier to secure your seat!) and will leave Oselia CYM to go back to the city around 5pm.
Additional: Meals at Oselia will cost 10$ for adults (18+) and 5$ for kids (18yrs and under)
